The 24-year-old woman who turned herself in for the hit-skip that left a woman seriously injured in Cleveland earlier this month has been identified by police.
Brandi Scampitilla was charged with aggravated vehicular assault and felony hit-skip. Scampitilla also had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant, according to police.
According to police, a 31-year-old woman was crossing Fulton Road within the lines of the crosswalk around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday when a maroon Chrysler LHS turned off Clark Avenue onto Fulton Road, striking the woman.
The driver, now identified as Scampitilla, pulled into a nearby Marathon gas station, 'briefly' observed the scene and then drove away, according to police.
Police released surveillance video from the gas station after the crash.
