and last updated

While 18 people were arrested yesterday, the main focus for the City of Cleveland on the last day of the RNC is to stay hydrated.

Mayor Frank Jackson began Thursday's press conference by saying "if they're going to protest, bring some water," referencing the heat index that will reach into the 90's today.

The city is also setting up 8 locations around the city where people can get water if they need it throughout the day. Water fountains that attach directly to fire hydrants will be located at:

  • The north side of Willard Park
  • The south side of Perk Park Plaza, by Chester Avenue
  • The south side Mall A by Rockwell
  • Settlers Landing

Water buggies will also be in place around the city at:

  • West 6th and Frankfurt
  • Kirtland Park
  • Sumner Ct
  • Public Square

As of last night 23 people have been arrested in protest related incidents downtown this week. The Cleveland police stress that the public remain vigilant and to be safe on the last day of the RNC. While protest groups are smaller with usually 40-50 people, the police have twice that number of officers ready to respond to situations.
