CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Fire Department responded to a basement fire in a building on Pearl Road Friday morning.

Firefighters responded shortly before 7 a.m. to a building in the 4500 block of Pearl Road.

The fire was brought under control. The businesses and apartments were unoccupied.

When firefighters arrived, there was so much smoke they couldn't tell where the fire started. Eventually it was determined the fire started in the basement.

There were no injuries reported.
