Cleveland firefighters battled a fire at a vacant downtown building just after 11 p.m. Wednesday.

According to firefighters the building, which is just west of the old Huntington Building at East 9th and Euclid Avenue, was empty but full of construction debris that may have been set on fire.

Firefighters had to break down doors along Euclid Avenue to get inside to put the flames out.

Smoke poured from the building for about 45 minutes as crews used fans to ventilate the building.

Arson investigators were called to the scene to determine a cause.
