CLEVELAND — Cleveland native, former Ohio State Buckeye and current New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore may have relocated, but he remains loyal to his city and the people in it.
The Glenville High School graduate came back to host an event to fight gun violence in Cleveland Saturday evening.
A Better Day event gave the community a day filled with “love, peace, community, family and fun.”
The event held at Bump Taylor Field in Cleveland's Forest Hills neighborhood included food, games, prizes and free haircuts for the local community.
Lattimore said he held the event because he wants to be an example for the youth in the community.
“I come from where they come from, I had the same struggles they have, Lattimore said. “They gotta see somebody so they can have motivation to chase their dreams.”
Lattimore said he hopes this event is the first of many he can hold to give back to Cleveland. He wants to make “A Better Day” an annual event, as well as hosting food drives and back-to-school drives for the community.
