CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are investigating an alleged intentional hit-skip that left a 31-year-old woman seriously injured on Friday.
Officers responded to the 8100 block of Force Avenue for reports of a woman struck by a vehicle. Once on scene, officers were told by a witness that EMS had transported the woman.
At at MetroHealth Medical Center, the woman was listed in critical condition with a fractured femur, multiple fractured ribs, multiple pelvic fractures and a fractured right arm, according to police.
The woman’s husband told police that they had been standing near the side of the road, talking outside of a friend's house on Force Avenue, when a white Dodge pulled up to them, police said.
A male passenger in the Dodge exited the vehicle and began speaking to the woman’s husband as if he knew him, but that was not the case. The female driver turned the Dodge around and then began “yelling and cussing” at the woman. After moving to protect his wife, the woman’s husband said the female driver then accelerated the vehicle and deliberately struck the woman.
The female driver and male passenger fled the scene, dragging the woman’s husband, who had grabbed the vehicle attempting to stop them, down the street three or four houses.
Police did not provide a detailed description of the suspects.
No arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to call the police.
