CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are investigating a carjacking that occurred at the Target in Steelyard Commons Sunday evening.

Around 5:31 p.m. police responded to the Target parking lot in the 3500 block of Steelyard Drive for a report that a woman had been robbed of her vehicle at gunpoint.

The woman told police she returned to her 2018 Hyundai Elantra after shopping and as she entered her vehicle an unidentified male appeared at her driver’s door. The male opened the driver’s door, pulled out a gun, pointed it at her head and ordered her to “get out of the car.”

As she started to get out of the vehicle, the male told her to leave her purse. The woman told the male her medications were inside her purse and he then allowed her to take the purse with her, police said.

The male, along with a second unidentified individual, entered her vehicle and drove away in an unknown direction.

Police are working with Steelyard Commons security to check camera footage in the area.

The incident remains under investigation.
