CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are conducting a homicide investigation after a man was fatally shot in Cleveland’s Fairfax neighborhood.
On Jan. 10, around 8 p.m., officers responded to the Cleveland Clinic Emergency Department after receiving a call that a man had arrived with a gunshot wound. The victim was brought to the hospital by another man who told police he had heard a loud noise and saw the victim limping across a vacant field in the vicinity of East 86th Street and Capitol Avenue. The victim told the man he had been shot in the leg, so the man transported him to the hospital in his car, according to police.
The victim, 67-year-old Willie Thomas, was pronounced dead at the hospital at 10:55 pm., police said.
Members of the homicide unit have taken over the case, which remains under investigation.
