CLEVELAND — A Cleveland police officer has been terminated after an investigation by the Cleveland Division of Police, Internal Affairs Unit.
Howard Hart, 31, was terminated on Jan. 19.
According to his termination letter, Hart engaged in illegal drug and substance use from July 2016 until July 2020.
On Sept. 4 2018, he failed to document use of force by officer John Petkac, which prevented the division from conducting a thorough and appropriate investigation, according to the termination letter.
Six Cleveland police officers were suspended without pay and Petkac was fired in connection with that incident.
