CLEVELAND — Officers from the Cleveland Police Department came to the rescue of one resident trapped inside a smoke-filled apartment building on East 94th Street Wednesday morning.

Police responded to the 3100 block of East 94th Street at around 3:11 a.m. for a fire at an apartment building just outside the Cleveland Police Department's Fourth District Headquarters.

Police told News 5's overnight news tracker that officers smelled it from inside the district building. Police assisted one male resident out of the apartment building. The resident refused treatment.
