Patrol Officer David Manns was arrested on Friday for felonious assault on a female acquaintance, Cleveland police reported.
According to police, the incident was reported on Friday around 4:50 a.m. and occurred while Manns was off duty.
The Cleveland Division of Police Integrity Control Section launched an investigation, resulting in a warrant for felonious assault being issued.
Manns turned himself in to investigators on Friday.
Police said Manns was hired by the City of Cleveland on November 11, 2013. He is a 33-year-old man who was last assigned to the Third District on basic patrol.
Manns was immediately relieved from duty, police reported, and his city issued firearm was confiscated. He will remain suspended without pay pending judgment of the criminal charges.
