Sidewalk fixed after NewsChannel5 investigation

A sidewalk standoff on Cleveland's east side is no more thanks to a recent NewsChannel5 investigation.

We told you earlier this week about a Cleveland man whose sidewalk was torn up more than a year ago and never repaired.

Jack Kochis admitted to newsnet5.com that he owed hundreds of dollars on his water bill but he said when the Cleveland Water Department came to shut it off, workers ended up having to move the access value—to a spot right in the middle of the sidewalk.

"They say they sub-contract that and I say it doesn't matter because it's not done right,” said Kochis. “Whoever wrote the check for them should have checked their work."

That's because not only did they take out his sidewalk, but the access cap is below the other sidewalk squares. So now they'd have to fix the cap too.

Now, 13 months later, the sidewalk is repaired.

Kochis says he will now pay the outstanding balance on his water bill.
