CMHA officer involved in shooting at transitional building

CLEVELAND — A Cleveland Metropolitan Housing Authority officer was involved in a shooting on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the department said the shooting happened at the Y-Haven Residential Program at Stokes Mall after they received a call that a man was threatening an employee.

The man was shot by an officer and transported to Metro Hospital in stable condition.

The YMCA released the following statement about the shooting:

"We are deeply concerned for the wellbeing of this individual and thankful that the CMHA police acted quickly and professionally to keep others safe.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the individual. We are grateful for the actions our staff took to keep other residents and employees safe. We will provide counseling to staff members and residents who were involved in this incident."
