Construction amps up at CLE Hopkins airport

More changes at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport may mean longer wait times. The construction is wrapping up, but the final phase will close one of the three security checkpoints.

Pre-Check travelers will use checkpoints A and C for next few months.

Some travelers, like Ron Johnson, told newsnet5.com they're not happy about it.

"I'm really disappointed to hear that it's going to be closed, I don't know what I'm going to do about that," said Johnson.

The director of Hopkins Airport, Fred Szabo, said the temporary added hassle will make for a better airport when all is said and done.

"Vaulted ceilings, skylights, it's going to be one of the most attractive areas of the airport."

Szabo said the goal is to have everything complete for the Republican National Convention.

"I know it's been difficult, but I hope you agree with me that once this product is finished it will be well worth the wait," Fred Szabo said.
