Elijah H. Akili was indicted for a fatal hit skip in the city that left a man dead, the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas reported.

Akili was indicted on one count of failure to stop after accident and one count of vehicular homicide, according to court documents.

Police said the 60-year-old victim, identified by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner as Michael Groves, of Cleveland, was struck by a car as he was attempting to cross Lee Road at the intersection of Tarkington Avenue and was struck by a car that failed to stop, according to police.

Police said Groves was not in a marked crosswalk when he was struck. But it did have crossing signs on both sides.
