CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are investigating after a small fireworks explosion damaged the front of a building in Slavic Village late Saturday morning.

The incident happened at a vacant building in the 6400 block of Fleet Avenue around 11:30 a.m. Authorities said the building used to be a bar, but it has sat empty for some time.

Cleveland fire officials said it appears someone stuck some M-80 fireworks to the building and ignited them. The explosion caused some structural damage to the building.

Fire officials said the investigation has been handed over to Cleveland police.
