'Fast and Furious' filming to close roads in CLE

Filming for "Fast 8," an action movie centered around illegal street racing and car heists, will shut down some streets in the downtown area between May 18 and June 8, according to the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority. 

RTA said filming will be in and around Public Square, including East 9th Street, Chester Avenue, Euclid Avenue, Ontario Street, Prospect Avenue, Superior Avenue and Vincent Avenue. Only a few roads will be closed at a time. 

May 18-20, filming will cause the following bus routes to be rerouted:

  • B-Line Trolley

  • 11
  • 22
  • 26
  • 38
  • 39
  • 39F
  • 239
  • 45
  • 51-A-B-C
  • 53F
  • 55-A-B-C
  • 76
  • 79A-B
  • 81
  • 246
  • 263
  • 251

May 21-22, 51-A-B-C will be rerouted.

Filming will also require parking lots for trucks with equipment, crew and catering, RTA reported. 

"Fast 8" is part of the "Fast and Furious" franchise.
