Man escapes from car that crashed into Cuyahoga River

CLEVELAND — A man who was in a car that crashed into the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland Friday night made it out of the vehicle, according to Cleveland fire.

The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. near Riverbed Street and Elm Avenue.

Cleveland firefighters, Cleveland EMS and the Coast Guard responded to the scene.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. His current condition is unknown.

Crews were called back out Saturday afternoon to pull the car from the river.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
