Man fatally shot after breaking into house, police say

CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are investigating a fatal shooting after a man was found shot inside of a home.

Police said they were called to the 3300 block of East 137th Street on Tuesday around 9:15 a.m.

When police arrived, they found a 40-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds.

The man was transported to University Hospital, where he later died.

Police said they learned at the scene that the man who was shot had broken into the house and was shot by a 40-year-old man who lived inside the home.

According to police, the shooter had left the scene but later turned himself in to investigators.

Police said the shooter was interviewed and released.

According to authorities, the man who was shot was a prior tenant at the address but did not know the current resident.
