CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Police Department is investigating the fatal shooting of a 39-year-old man in the city’s Mt. Pleasant neighborhood.
According to authorities, officers were working a crash near East 142nd Street and Kinsman Road when they heard gunshots nearby.
When officers arrived at East 142nd and Kinsman, several cars were driving away, and a man was found on the ground, police said. He appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Officers administered first aid until EMS arrived and transported the man to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.
Police said that a preliminary investigation indicated that the shooter drove off in a bronze-colored Buick Regal. The car was found later after someone crashed it into a tree in the 13400 block of Melzer Avenue.
No arrests have been made at this time and no further information has been released.
The matter remains under investigation.
