CLEVELAND — A wanted fugitive was captured Thursday in Cleveland, but not before he used an SUV to ram an Ohio State Highway Patrol cruiser in a futile attempt to escape from police.

The 19-year-old suspect had a warrant out for his arrest on charges of attempted murder, felonious assault, aggravated robbery and kidnapping in connection with a series of robberies at local cell phone stores.

A task force comprised of OSHP, Cleveland police's Gang Impact Unit and members of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, located the suspect near East 55th Street and Superior Avenue.

Authorities said they found the man, he used an SUV to strike a trooper's patrol car and then fled the scene on foot.

OSHP then released a K-9 to track the man down and he was taken into custody.
