She said it's an honor to make the list.
"After only a few months on the ground here in Cleveland, I’m really honored to be featured among this amazing list of people who help make Cleveland better in so many ways," she said.
She sat down with Cleveland Magazine to talk about resilience, Black identity and what it means to work on difficult stories.
"Courtney Gousman has never shied away from a challenge. After working in TV news for almost two decades, she has seen time and again that life always throws a couple curveballs along the way. In the last year, she’s gone through a divorce and moved away from her native city of Chicago to take on a new role as anchor for News 5 Cleveland," journalist Arbela Capas wrote in the issue.

News 5 isn't short on interesting people. In 2019, anchor and reporter Homa Bash made the "Most Interesting People of 2020" list.
