A pedestrian died after he was struck by a car on the city's east side Thursday morning, according to Cleveland police.

Authorities said the victim was crossing Woodland Avenue just east of Woodhill Road when he was hit by a dark-colored sedan.

Mohammed Al-Shibar, 24, was arrested and taken into police custody, according to Cleveland police.

The victim was taken to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

The incident is under investigation.
