CLEVELAND — The Cleveland APL is looking for a home for a striking 5-year-old female cat named Swallowtail.

Swallowtail is extremely affectionate and loves to explore her surroundings, flicking her tail in the air when she finds something that interests her, the shelter said.

The cat arrived at Cleveland APL very underweight and with horrible dental disease, but the shelter helped her put on weight and gave her the dental care she so needed.

After getting her healthy, the shelter began to see Swallowtail's loving personality shine through.

While Swallowtail loves to be around people, she's also laid back and doesn't demand constant attention, the shelter said.

Cleveland APL said that during her medical treatment, it was discovered Swallowtail has a chronic upper respiratory infection, like a chronic cold, likely due to damaged sinuses from years of her condition going untreated. She will likely need medication on and off for the rest of her life, but other than that, she's a happy cat looking for a loving home in time for the holidays.
