A house fire destroyed a home on Adams Avenue early Thursday morning leaving the residents without a place to live.

The fire was first reported around 12:55 a.m. Thursday by Cleveland police on patrol. Those officers assisted the five residents from the home and into the warmth of their patrol cars.

Cleveland firefighters worked for hours to bring the flames under control. Fire was seen on every floor of the home and shooting from the roof.

At one point early in the battle the firefighters had to evacuate the home and fight the fire from the outside.

The Red Cross responded to the scene to help the residents and assist the warming up the firefighters.

No injuries were reported.
