Police investigating 2 homicides that happened in Cleveland

CLEVELAND — Cleveland police are investigating two homicides that happened Wednesday and Thursday.

According to police, the first incident happened on March 18 around 4:20 p.m. at Duggen Park in Cleveland’s Euclid-Green neighborhood on the city’s East Side.

Police responded to the area for a shots-fired call. Authorities said it was later discovered that there had been a shooting at London Road and Euclid Avenue several blocks away.

The person who had been shot, a 21-year-old man, was transported to a nearby hospital by a private car. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Two houses near where the shots were fired were hit by bullets. The homes were occupied when the shooting happened but no one inside them was injured.

On Thursday, police responded to the 600 block of Eddy Road around 9:30 a.m. for a man found dead. According to authorities, the man was found in a nearby field in the 680 block of East 123rd Street.

The man has been identified as Dearius Lee, of Cleveland, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police said that residents in the area reported hearing gunfire Wednesday night between 8 and 10 p.m.
