CLEVELAND — It’s not every day the Bomb Squad is called out for a traffic stop, but that was the case Friday night when Cleveland police and a state trooper found more than a 1,000 pounds of illegal fireworks after pulling a vehicle over.
The traffic stop happened around 11:50 p.m. on State Route 176 near Denison Avenue.
According to Cleveland police, an officer was assisting an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper with the stop when they discovered around 1,235 pounds of fireworks. The Bomb Squad was called in to take care of the contraband.
The driver, who has not been named, was arrested on scene and later charged with OVI and possession of fireworks.
