Two 17-year-old boys were arrested over the weekend after they nearly ran over a Cleveland police officer during a traffic stop.
According to Cleveland police, officers tried to pull over a Buick Rendezvous around 6:30 p.m. Saturday on Cable Avenue for failure to use a traffic signal.
As officers got out of their cars to approach the vehicle, it accelerated toward one of the officers.
Authorities say the officer had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.
The teens took off and additional officers assisted in searching for their vehicle. Shortly after, they found it with a flat tire and a door open in the 3200 block of Morgan Avenue.
Police heard dogs barking in the yard of a mechanic shop next to where the car was found. Officers went into the yard where they found both suspects hiding in the roof of a garage.
The teens were taken into custody.
One of the teens had warrants for burglary, theft, criminal damage, aggravated robbery, kidnapping, felonious assault, receiving stolen property and theft.
The other was on probation for felony aggravated robbery.
They were both taken to the juvenile detention center.
