Posted

A portion of the Innerbelt Bridge is scheduled to shut down Friday morning as the construction project inches closer to completion.

The Ohio Department of Transportation said the Interstate 90 eastbound exit ramp to East 9th Street will close Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Drivers will be able to exit at Superior Avenue.

At 7:30 Friday night, I-90 east and westbound over the Innerbelt Bridge will be closed through 11 a.m. Sunday. Drivers are encouraged to use Interstate 490 and Interstate 77 as an alternate route. Drivers downtown will be able to enter I-90 westbound from both East 9th Street and Ontario Street during the closure.

On Saturday from 6 a.m. to noon, East 9th Street will be closed between Orange and Carnegie avenues. Drivers are asked to use Ontario Avenue as an alternate.

Also on Saturday, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., the I-90 westbound access to Interstate 71 southbound will be closed. Drivers will be detoured to West 44th Street where they can exit and re-enter I-90 eastbound to I-71 southbound.

The Innerbelt Bridge construction project, which is actually two separate bridges, has been going on for six years. All five lanes are expected to open in each direction at the end of October.
