The remains found in a vacant lot on Cleveland's east side in 2016 belong to a 40-year-old Cleveland woman, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office announced at a news conference Wednesday.
The woman was identified as Brooke Cameron of Cleveland.
Cameron's remains were found in a plastic bag at 5605 Dibble Avenue in October 2016.
An investigation into her death revealed she was shot in the head and had likely been dead for several weeks prior to being found.
Authorities were unable to identify the remains for several months, prompting them to create a sketch of what she might look like.
One day after the sketch was released, a tipster contacted police about the woman's identity.
Police say Cameron moved to Cleveland from New Mexico in 2015 with her boyfriend but, when he returned to New Mexico, she stayed here.
