Stolen car crashes in Cleveland, six people injured

Six people were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center after a crash on Union Avenue late Thursday night.

Cleveland EMS said six men between the ages of 18 and 32 years old were inside two cars when they crashed near East 78th Street and Union Avenue.

Cleveland Police tell News 5 three men in a stolen Ford Fusion were traveling westbound on Union Avenue at a high rate of speed when the vehicle collided with another car going southbound on East 78th Street.

After the crash, the Fusion came to rest in the front lawn of a home on the 7600 block of Union Avenue, where it caught fire. The men had to be removed from the car by police officers when they arrived on scene. Two of the men in the Fusion were transported in critical condition where they remain. The other passenger was treated at the hospital.

The three men in the other car were all taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in critical condition.

Union Avenue was closed for a couple hours while Cleveland police investigated the crash.
