The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Fugitive Task Force has arrested 19-year-old JeJuan Burns in connection to the shooting of a 2-year-old.

Burns is suspected of shooting 2-year-old Alaya Brown in the head on July 15 in the 4100 block of East 146th Street in Cleveland.

He was named a suspect just days later and had been on the run ever since.

On Monday, members of the task force learned Burns was hiding at a home in the 900 block of Highland Road NE in Canton.

A K9 located the suspect hiding in the basement of the home. He was taken to the Stark County Jail where he will be held until he is moved back to Cleveland.

"A brave little girl who suffered a gunshot wound to the head was all the motivation the men and women of the Cleveland Police and the U.S. Marshals needed to hunt this reckless fugitive down. We continue to join Alaya's family in prayer as she battles for recovery," said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott.
