A teen who was on the run after escaping from Cuyahoga Hills Juvenile Correctional Facility in Highland Hills last month has been found in Florida, according to the Ohio Department of Youth Services.

The 17-year-old is in custody in Miami-Dade County, according to authorities. He escaped with a 16-year-old who was caught on E.138th Street near Miles Road on May 22.

The Department of Youth Services said the pair escaped by scaling a fence using a sheet. Police caught up with the juveniles after they escaped and asked for identification, and the two took off running. At the time, police were able to catch the 16-year-old, but the 17-year-old got away.

According to Kim Jump, the spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Youth Services, the 17-year-old was in custody for a parole violation related to an original charge of vandalizing a business property. He has a previous escape charge from a community facility. He was set to be released from the juvenile detention facility at the end of June.
