CLEVELAND — US Marshals have arrested two men accused of violent crimes.
Kevin Walker was wanted by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department for aggravated robbery, felonious assault and a weapons assault.
When Marshals attempted to arrest Walker, he fled in his vehicle and struck one of the officers.
Walker was arrested near the intersection of West 140th Street and San Diego Avenue. A firearm was recovered from his waistband, according to US Marshals
The officer struck by Walker's vehicle is expected to fully recover.
Walker and his passenger were also transported to a local hospital for minor injuries sustained during the incident.
A few minutes later, officers learned that a wanted homicide suspect was in a nearby residence.
Cleveland task force members found Ernest Phillips hiding in the attic of a home on Parmalee Avenue.
Authorities said Phillips is accused of killing Roger Ashley inside of the Gas USA on the corner of Shaw and Euclid Avenues last November.
Phillips was transported to the East Cleveland Police Department for processing and questioning.
“Our task force officers are relentless and it showed tonight. One of their team members was struck by a vehicle operated by a violent fugitive yet the task force captured the fleeing fugitive and then wasted no time driving across town to find a homicide suspect hiding in an attic. Our officers risk life and limb on a daily basis to protect and serve the wonderful citizens within our community. I am truly grateful for their remarkable service," US Marshal Pete Elliott said.
