CLEVELAND — The WWII submarine USS Cod, a fixture for more than 60 years on Cleveland's lakefront, will hold a Memorial Day service aboard ship on Monday. The program will honor American servicemen and women lost in combat in all branches of service as well as submariners.

The USS Cod has never previously held a program to mark Memorial Day, but instead typically organizes several events held by various veteran groups and service organizations.

But because of the coronavirus pandemic, director Paul Farace said the groups had to cancel their events this year, so they felt it was important to still honor those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.
