Mother nature has cut us a break so far, but it looks like winter is finally here.
While it may not be a happy sight for some, retailers couldn't be more grateful.
Shovels sleds coats and gloves now flying off of shelves after sitting and waiting for weeks. Stores big and small say they've been stumped by this year's warm start to the season.
But the recent round of winter weather moving in has finally allowed retailers to start chipping away at their overstocked inventory.
Colleen Darby at Target said the chill front this weekend brought in lots of shoppers.
"We did have a lot of guests coming in and asking where our shovels were, where our Ice Melt was, scrapers for their cars, so it's nice because we've had a mild winter so it's kind of exciting to see everyone coming in to buy winter supplies for them."
The winter quarter, including the holiday season, generally makes up a slightly larger percentage of retailers' sales, making this time of year especially critical.
