Woman taken to hospital after car crashes into church

A woman was transported to a local hospital after her car crashed into a Cleveland church on Monday morning.

The crash happened at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church near East 36th Street and Superior Avenue around 2:14 a.m.

Witnesses said the driver was heading westbound on Superior Avenue at a slow rate of speed when she randomly sped up, jumped the curb and hit the church.

The extent of the woman's injuries is unknown. Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
