Explosive device in Cleveland Heights damages 2 homes; police investigating

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — The Cleveland Heights Police Department is investigating after a device on porch Wednesday night exploded and damaged the home as well as a house across the street.

Authorities said they have one person in custody, but they have not been charged.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. on Locona Drive.

Police said that the front door and porch of the home where the device was located was damaged. Additionally, the front glass door of a home across the street was also damaged.

No injuries were reported.

The bomb squad, detectives and a K-9 unit responded to the scene and checked the area for additional devices but found none.

The matter remains under investigation.
