A man was arrested Sunday night in downtown Cleveland for trying to take a trooper's gas mask.
Cleveland Police Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said that was the only arrest reported on the first day of the 2016 Republican National Convention.
The arrest happened about 6:40 p.m. near East 9th and Prospect.
Ciaccia did not have any other details about the suspect or his arrest.
Hundreds of people who made their way to downtown Cleveland Sunday evening were met by a large police presence. Protesters and supporters walked the main arteries of Cleveland and the crowds appeared peaceful.
