A 25-year-old Akron man crashed into the front gates of the Akron Zoo while being chased by police, according to authorities.
Antonio W. Moorer was seen speeding in a car on Vernon Odom Boulevard, a police report states. When officers tried to stop him, he led them on a chase, then crashed through the gates at the Akron Zoo. He then got out of the vehicle and tried to flee on foot.
Moorer was apprehended by police as he was climbing over a fence, the report continues. Officers recovered a loaded handgun from him. He also had a prior felony conviction.
Moorer was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, weapons under disability, willful flee and obstruction official business, according to police.
