MILTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred Friday night in Ashland County.

Around 11:01 p.m., a 2020 Jeep Wrangler was traveling north on Township Road 1153 near state Route 96 when the vehicle drove off the right side of the roadway, according to troopers.

The Jeep struck railroad tracks and a utility pole before overturning and ejecting the 29-year-old driver, troopers said.

The 29-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash and was transported by Metro Life-Flight to Akron City Hospital, according to troopers.

As a result of the crash, Township Road 1153 was closed for over an hour while crews cleared the scene.

Troopers believe that impairment and speed are factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
