Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers are investigating an accidental death involving a horse-drawn buggy Thursday night.
An Amish man died as a result of the accident.
The incident happened around 5:03 p.m. on State Route 89 near County Road 620 in Jackson Township.
Troopers say the man was in a horse-drawn flatbed trailer that was hauling a large stack of flat lumber. The the horse-drawn trailer went off the right side of the road and overturned, according to officials. The lumber and the victim were ejected, and the victim suffered fatal injuries as a result.
The Ashland County Sheriff's Office and Polk Fire and EMS responded to the scene.
Authorities say the victim was not wearing anything to restrain him inside the trailer.
The incident remains under investigation.
