JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A 38-year-old man was arrested in Ashland County Friday after crashing his truck and fleeing the scene on foot, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers were called to a single-vehicle rollover crash on U.S. Route 42 near state Route 302 in Jackson Township. Once on scene, troopers found a 1997 Ford F-150 on its roof.
Prior to the crash, the truck had traveled off the left side of the road and struck a utility pole before it overturned and came to rest on its roof, troopers said.
Witnesses to the crash told troopers that the driver had exited the truck and fled on foot into a wooded area nearby.
Troopers, assisted by the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office and a K-9 officer, found the driver lying down in thick brush. He was taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Charges against the man are pending and the crash remains under investigation, but troopers said they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
