Two people were injured Saturday morning just after their plane landed at the Ashland County Airport according to police officials.

Authorities say the pilot was flying in from Akron along with his wife and had just landed at the airport for the annual Veteran's Appreciation Day when the accident occurred shortly after 11 a.m.

Police said after the wheels made contact with the ground the plane started to wobble back and forth and it appeared a gust of wind caused the aircraft to flip over.

Bystanders were able to rescue the pilot and his passenger. They were both transported to a nearby hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.  The airport and runway will remain open through today's event, police said.
