JEFFERSON, Ohio — The Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office has announced that it will begin screening new inmate arrivals for coronavirus symptoms.

According to authorities the change is effective immediately.

Additionally, the sheriff’s office is suspending inmate visitations and activities such as AA, GED, bible studies and church services.

“We recognize the inconvenience these measures may present to our residents and we ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate through this trying time. We will do our best to keep the community informed of any updates or further disruptions of the services we provide,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
