About 1.3 pounds of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of about $14,000 was seized during an investigation into a network responsible for the distribution of the drug in Ashtabula, resulting in a series of arrests, according to a news release from Ashtabula police.

The arrests were made in the 300 block of West 54th Street on March 22 by members of the Ashtabula Police Department Narcotics Investigative Unit, according to the release.

In addition to the 600 grams of meth, $2,600 in cash was seized. Two men from Ashtabula were arrested, along with a 32-year-old man from Wickliffe, and all three were booked into Ashtabula County Jail.

In an unrelated investigation, the narcotics unit executed a search warrant in the 400 block of West 29th Street on Wednesday and located suspected crystal meth, marijuana resin, cash, digital scales and drug packaging material, the release states. The investigation was assisted by community members who reported suspicious activity in the area.

The case is being reviewed by the Ashtabula City Solicitors Office and charges of trafficking in drugs, possession of criminal tools and permitted drug abuse are expected.
