ASHTABULA, Ohio — The Ashtabula County Animal Protective League received an outpouring of support within hours of asking the public for donations.

On Saturday, Ashtabula County APL took to Facebook for help, sharing that it was in desperate need of dry dog food for the animals currently at the shelter.

The shelter had used the last of its supply and asked for donations of Purina Dog Chow or any other brands the public would be willing to donate.

Generous animal lovers didn’t waste time showing their support.

Less than four hours after announcing they had run out of food, workers at the Ashtabula APL went back on Facebook to share a heartwarming update.

The shelter posted a picture of multiple bags of dry dog food brought in by generous donors who saw their original post.

Ashtabula APL also shared that many people had called into the shelter to make over-the-phone monetary donations to assist in keeping the food supply stocked for the next few days.

While the donations the shelter received are incredibly helpful, it can always use more assistance.

Anyone interested in donating to the shelter can call 440-224-1222 for more information or click here.
