ASHTABULA COUNTY, Ohio — A man found guilty on several different sex crime charges against a minor was sentenced to 115 years to life plus 40 years on Monday, according to the Ashtabula County Prosecutor Celia Cooper.

On Sept. 18, Justin Furmage was found guilty by a jury of eight counts of rape and eight counts of gross sexual imposition involving a victim under the age of 10, Cooper said.

Furmage appeared in court for his sentencing, where he received 15 years to life on each count of rape and 60 months on each count of gross sexual imposition, according to Cooper.

Each count is to run consecutively to the others, making Furmage’s total sentence 115 years to life plus 40 years, Cooper said.

This conviction and sentence is the culmination of a great deal of hard work by many dedicated individuals. It started with the Conneaut Police Department who thoroughly investigated this matter. The report then went to our office for review. In the meantime, the staff of our Victims of Crime Office began working with the victim to prepare her and her family for the long and difficult criminal process that was to come. Finally, the case was successfully tried by Asst. Prosecutor John Lewis. I want to thank all of them for their hard work and dedication to seeing that justice is served for this victim. This sentence assures this will be his last victim.
