The U.S. Marshals Service announced on Wednesday the arrest of a man who allegedly raped a child in Tennessee and then fled to Ashtabula County to hide out.
Geoffrey Arnold, 43, was taken into custody Wednesday morning in the 3500 block of Adams Road, Kingsville, Ohio, authorities said.
According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Arnold was wanted out of Dyer County, Tennessee. On Oct. 1, authorities issued an arrest warrant for Arnold. Authorities said Arnold allegedly raped a child "over a significant period of time."
The U.S. Marshals Service was later notified by Tennessee law enforcement officials that Arnold was holed up in Northeast Ohio. He was located and arrested without incident, authorities said.
“Without the great working relationship we have with our local partners, criminals such as Arnold may be on the run longer. A case such as this shows the investigative reach of the U.S. Marshals Service and its partners,” U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said.
