A 53-year-old Ashtabula resident was killed Sunday morning in a motorcycle crash, according to the State Highway Patrol.
The victim, Randell S. Richards, was on a motorcycle traveling westbound on State Route 84 shortly before 1 a.m. when he drove off the side of the road, police said.
Richards hit an embankment and then a tree and was ejected from the motorcycle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, authorities said. Richards was not wearing a helmet.
The crash is currently under investigation. It is unknown at this time if alcohol played a role in the crash.
